This agreement between us is created for clarity and for your reference. If you have any questions or a concern or query arises at any time, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I am registered with BACP.  To access their ethical framework or complaints procedure please find their details below.

1. Confidentiality

All matters that you discuss with me during a session are confidential. If I have concerns about your health or safety or the health or safety of someone else, I may be required to break confidentiality and share your personal details with a third party, in compliance with law. I will always endeavour to speak to you about this first and will only share the minimum amount of information required to address the situation.

I discuss my clinical work with a registered supervisor. These conversations are confidential and you will be referred to by your first name only. This is done to provide the best service possible and to ensure the sessions are being delivered with reasonable skill and care.

2. Delivering Sessions

Payment reminders for sessions arrive 5 days before the session start time to allow plenty of time to respond. Please make payment no later than 24 hours before the session start time as this enables me to send the meeting link to you on time. If payment has not been made on time it may delay the start of the session.

The session fee will be agreed before beginning counselling. I offer 60 minute sessions using Google Meet and will send you the link for each session once payment has been made through the Kiku booking platform.

If you are running late for any reason please let me know where possible. The session ending time will need to remain the same.

For online sessions please ensure you are calling from a space where confidentiality can be held and, if using a phone or tablet, I ask that you place the device securely on a flat surface. Please feel free to make adjustments so that you feel comfortable.

When working open-endedly I ask that we allow some time every sixth session to review the process and see how you feel in relation to your desired therapeutic outcomes.

3. Cancelling a Session

For any planned absences I can refund you in full for the missed session. If you need

to cancel a session at shorter notice I need at least 5 working days’ notice to be able

to offer you a full refund. Please note I access my email and voicemail Monday -

Thursday and will be able to confirm receipt of your message within these days, but

the required 5 working days’ notice includes Fridays.

4. Holiday Dates

I take holiday at regular periods throughout the year and will give plenty of notice of these dates. For any dates you will be away from counselling please give as much notice as possible. I am able to hold your space for up to 2 consecutively missed sessions at a time. For breaks longer than this I can’t guarantee returning to the same weekly space but will endeavour to work with you to find a new session time where it is possible.

5. Ending Counselling

To facilitate a good ending, it can be helpful to agree a number of sessions, to allow

space to process what the ending may bring up and reflect on the process. For

longer-term work, approx. 1 month per year of notice is recommended. As a

minimum, I ask that you give 5 working days’ notice before a final session, so we can

both arrive knowing that we’ll be ending.

6. If there is a problem with sessions

If you have any questions or complaints about sessions, please contact me. You can contact me by telephone at 07490046168 or by writing to me at laurenkriwaldcounselling@gmail.com.

You may also contact my counselling regulatory body, BACP, by visiting their complaints page on their website: https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-us/protecting-the-public/professional-conduct/how-to-complain-about-a-bacp-member/ of by email: professional_conduct@bacp.co.uk

7. Session Fees

I review my fees annually in April and occasionally may need to increase my fee by a maximum of 5%. I will notify you in writing with at least 1 month’s notice of any changes to fees.

8. Liability

You have the right to be provided with sessions which are as described, supplied with reasonable skill and care and that fall in line with BACP’s Ethical Framework to which I adhere: https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/

I cannot foresee or guarantee the outcomes of the session(s), which are dependent on a variety of factors outside of my control and I can not accept liability in relation to the same.

9. How I use your personal information

I will only use your personal information in line with data protection legislation as set out by GDPR. Please see my Privacy Notice for further details.
