Neuro-Inclusive Counselling
There is so much more to who we are than our neurotype. However, when neurodiversity is newly brought into our awareness it can require time to work through what this means.
When identifications emerge in adulthood it can cast an entirely different light on the whole of our lives lived so far. I honour what discovering your neurodiversity means to you.
With both benefits and challenges in gaining this new insight, I will follow your lead on where this takes us and allow space to process things together.
I also offer psychoeducation to help equip you with the neurology and nervous system-based tools available to help navigating life in a neurotypical world.
How I practice a little differently
-
I will encourage you to move freely in session and let eye contact be natural
-
I like to bring my blankets, pens, paper and fidget items to session - please feel free to bring anything you like to make yourself as comfy as possible
-
We can change the pace of sessions and I bring gentle structure so we don't get lost in the void of silence unless more space is needed
-
Together we will learn your preferences for communicating, thinking, feeling and being - building a shared language more easily, there’s much less over-explaining needed
-
Tracking your nervous system means we can check how you are feeling in the moment just by noticing breathing and physical sensations, and find ways to come back from fight/flight/freeze more easily
